I studied for four years at University College London, and then moved to the University of Bath. After a year doing a second degree there, I started my PhD in 2011 and will be finishing it shortly.
I feel like I have been a student FOREVER. After school I studied A-levels for two years then studied a chemistry degree, generally that takes 3-4 years but I took 5 as I worked a year in a chemical company. A PhD takes about 4 more years after that. So after starting university in 2007 I should (!) finish my PhD at the end of this year. Phew!
Science is always uncovering new information and we are continually learning. Undertaking a PhD is an amazing chance to focus your learning for a few (3 or more) years on a dedicated topic and uncover something new for yourself.
